| By this method, villagers are encouraged to participate actively in case detection. Results of case detection methods of earlier years are analysed and villages without cases are enlisted. These villages are visited again and an intensive survey is carried out with help of male and female village volunteers . |

INCOME GENERATION & VOCATIONAL TRAINING: |

| People with disabilities as a result of leprosy need to final suitable work that will protect their limbs and use their abilities. People without impairment still face stigma and need to find ways to become economically independent. Work and income also help people to regain self respect and community acceptance. Keeping the above issue in mind GKNP plans to offer Community Based Rehabilitation to these disable persons. |
FOOTWEAR UNIT: |

| MCR (Micro Cellular Rubber) footwear unit has been established to provide necessary footwear for patients with intensive feet. A locally skilled cobbler is employed in the unit who prepares MCR shoes/ chappals. Apart from providing physiotherapy assistance to the patients the footwear unit is also supervised by the Physiotherapist. The MCR chappals made in the unit are provided to patients free of cost. |
BLINDNESS CONTROL: |

Community awareness and their involvement are vital factors in any programme dealing with a community issue such as poor vision and blindness etc. Community outreach programmes are an integral part of GKNP eye care service.
GKNP creates awareness about eye problems and their solution. Every year
it organize free eye screening camps through Kaimoor district. Camp teams are working closely with community leader. GKNP has been implanted IOL in 449 old persons during the year in Referral Hospital, Ramgarh , Red Cross Society, Bhabua and Based Eye Hospital of the GKNP. |

| Kaimoor district was declared as a RNTCP district. The GKNP is modified its work as per prescribed pattern of RNTCP. Shri Mihir Kumar Singh the Then District Magistrate cum Chairman of the District Tuberculosis Control Society, Kaimoor, inaugurated the T B work based on RNTCP on 1 st June 2007. Case detection through investigation and treatment. Follow-up done by trained staff of all sputum and defaulter cases. |

VITAMIN 'A'DEFICIENCY: |

| Increased public awareness have resulted in drastic drop in the incidence of nutritional blindness due to vitamin A deficiency. The GKNP is involved in assessment and treatment of nutrition related blindness in children. GKNP provided Vitamin A free of charge to all needy children. Sight and Life, Switzerland to GKNP donated Vitamin A. |
| TRAINING : |

Training for intensive case detection campaigns COMPAIGNS house to house searches, interpersonal communication skill for dealing with family members, body examination for sign and symptoms filling on formats related to search and suspected cases and reporting procedure were organized during the year under report. There was training for limited surveys for Modified Leprosy Elimination Campaigns (MLEC) and for special action project for elimination of leprosy. Such training produced large numbers of trained persons who were available for future campaigns. One of the motivating factors for such dedication was the relationship of trust that was forged between Volunteers and staffs of GKNP. Volunteers were there for also trained in IEC and given IEC materials for use during survey. |

GKNP running sanitation programme in Bhabua & Chainpur Block of Kaimoor district. GKNP had constructed more than 600 individual latrines for BPL families and 50 Toile Complex in Schools Sanitation programme supported by District Water and Sanitation Committee, Kaimoor. |
